Assembly of the FSA square axle bottom bracket :

The assembly of this FSA square axle bottom bracket requires a Shimano standard tightening & loosening tool, a set of allen keys or a tube wrench and a crank extractor.

In order to avoid the risk of squeaking when using this FSA square axle bottom bracket, we recommend that you apply grease to the threads between the bottom bracket and this box, as well as on the interfaces with the cranks.

Assembly method for this FSA square axle bottom bracket :

The assembly or replacement of an FSA square axle bottom bracket requires specific tools and knowledge of the procedure to follow, it is an operation to be carried out by an experienced person.

• Loosen and remove the crank clamp screws
• Position the extractor on each of the cranks to extract them from the crank axle
• Use the loosening tool on the bottom bracket, unscrew then remove the bottom bracket shell
• Grease the bottom bracket thread
• Tighten the FSA square axle bottom bracket to the torque in the bottom bracket using the Shimano standard tightening tool
• Position the chain on one of the chainrings of the right crank
• Assemble the cranks on the bottom bracket
• Screw and torque tighten the screws securing the cranks to the axle

It is assembled in a 70 mm wide bottom bracket shell, tapped at a pitch of 36 x 24T (Italian thread) and cranks whose tightening interface is square to the ISO standard.

Maintenance of the square axle bottom bracket :

A simple cleaning with soapy water to evacuate the accumulation of soil or pollutants at the level of the clamping interfaces is recommended. The bearings are in a sealed cartridge, they cannot be disassembled or adjusted.
