The BMX stem ensures the connection between the handlebar and the tube of the fork. This part is a key item in the steering behavior and stability of your bmx.

BMX stem choice :

A BMX stem is short, it is less than 90 mm in length for a lively steering and a significant rigidity of the steering which undergoes many mechanical stresses whatever the discipline: freestyle, race, dirt or flat.

The BMX stem is forged or aluminium machined for a better rigidity and a better look. In current BMX models are attached directly to the fork steerer, this is the headset assembly, for older models, the BMX stem can consist of a pivot which is inserted and fixed in the tube of the fork.

In order to ensure the correct compatibility of a BMX stem with its bike, it is necessary to check the fixing diameter with the handlebar fixture diameter which is generally 22.2 mm or 25.4 mm, it is also necessary to validate the fixing interface with the fork by a pivot or directly on the fork steerer with a diameter of 25.4 mm or 28.6 mm.

The position of the opening system of the binding with the handlebars can also be varied, in fact, a freestyle BMX stem will have a front opening while a version intended for a practice race will open from above.

Replacing a bmx stem is a simple operation and does not require specific tools.
