The fixie  frame is the central part on which all the components of a fixie are assembled. Its geometry must correspond to the morphology and use of the cyclist.

Choosing a fixie frame:

The dimensions of the fixie frame should match the size of the rider who is using it. Its geometry can be sloping (horizontal tube slightly inclined at the level of the seat tube) for better rigidity and responsiveness, or traditional for a better comfort. The materials used are steel, aluminum and sometimes carbon. A fixie frame composed by steel will be comfortable but heavier than an aluminum model, carbon is at the same time light, comfortable and rigid but it is very sensitive to direct shocks.

The dropouts of a fixie frame are straight, they are not intended for mounting a derailleur. This type of frame does not have an attachment for a brake.

An old road bike frame can be transformed into a fixie, but you have to pay attention to the standards that have evolved, such as the tapping of the bottom bracket, the diameter of the seat tube or the diameter of the head tube.

The frame of a fixie bike forms a whole, the characteristics of the parts must correspond, if the frame was designed according to old standards in this case it will not be possible to assemble parts to current standards or possibly reproductions of parts old.

Second hand Fixie frames:

We offer a large number of components for fixie in used condition or new from clearance. Here are the checkpoints that we carry out before the sale of a used fixie bike frame:

  • cleaning
  • visual inspection, search for scratches, knocks or cracks
  • checking of internal threads
  • wheel, fork and seat post assembly test to verify that the frame is not deformed

On the basis of these observations we define a score on a scale from 0 (for parts) to 10 (new with packaging) which corresponds to the general condition of the fixie frame.

fixie frame can be specificly designed for this type of use from specialized brands like Extra+ or BLB but a fixie frame can be also an old or vintage frame of road bike in steel or aluminium in this case the distance between the fixtures of the rear wheel is wider so it's needed to choice a campatible wheel.

The biggest brands of fixie frames:

The most common brands are Aventon or Extra + which specialize in this type of bike but it is also possible to meet old brands such as Peugeot, Motobecane, Gitane or MBK.
