Shimano cleats SM-SH51 for clipless pedals

Reference: SM-SH51

Use of these Shimano cleats :

These Shimano SM-SH51 cleats are assembled under shoes designed for clipless pedals to the Shimano SPD standard (2 fixing holes).

They are assembled by clipping in pedals with the corresponding SPD type fixing system, the release is only made laterally.

Assembly of these Shimano cleats :

The assembly of these Shimano cleats is very simple and only requires a few minutes. An allen key is required to tighten the fixing screws on the shoe tightening interfaces.

These Shimano SM-SH51 cleats are clipped into the pedal mounting by positioning the front part of the cleat in the interface of the pedal then pushing with your foot vertically to engage the rear part.

Maintenance and replacement of these Shimano cleats :

For optimal operation of the pedals + cleats assembly, it is recommended to clean and evacuate any pollutants (mud, dust, grease, water, etc.) that may have accumulated on the mounting interface after each ride, each pedal or on each of the cleats assembled on the cycling shoes. These Shimano SM-SH51 cleats are anti-corrosion treated but their shapes can retain impurities.

Since the Shimano cleats are attached under the cycling shoes, they are exposed to contact with the ground. They can be abraded but their material is strong enough to withstand shocks and friction. However, their level of wear changes according to the number and the conditions of use, they must be replaced when their hold in the interface for fixing the pedals is no longer effective or they are triggered without voluntary action by the cyclist user.
