Crankbrothers is a premium brand of MTB and BMX pedals.
Crankbrothers history :
It was in 1997 that Crankbrothers opened with two friends Carl Winefordner and Frank Hermansen. Frank is the designer and Car the engineer.
The company begins by offering a tire iron, 4000 pieces will be sold to Interbike in 1997. After this success the founders of Crankbrothers have developed a high and low pressure button for a mini pump, this system called power pump will be put on the market in 1998.
In 2001, the Crankbrothers Eggbeater pedals were offered, with this product the exponential growth reached 600% in the first year of sale of this model of pedals. This rapid development allowed them to create a marketing team and hire sales representatives.
After this success, Andrew Herrick joined Crankbrothers as a third partner, he had many experiences in the cycle industry such as at GT Bicycles. The development of Crankbrothers is self-financing.
In 2007, Crankbrothers was sold to Selle Royal which provided additional resources.
In 2013 Andrew left Crankbrothers, Carl and Frank remained with the company and continued to develop new products designed and developed in-house. Only the telescopic seat post was developed based on an external patent.
